ABBA Museum Opens in 2009

The world’s first ABBA museum is set to open in the legendary Swedish band’s hometown Stockholm in the beginning of June 2009.

The building, which is planned to fill three floors on the island of SГ¶dermalm, will be provided with a lot of technological and multimedia aspects that will allow visitors to take part in many aspects of ABBA’s 70’s fame, for example to record tracks like “Waterloo” in a recreation of Polar Studio in Stockholm, where the group created their hits.

The four original ABBA members - Björn Ulvaeus (guitar and vocals), Benny Andersson (keyboards and vocals) and singers Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad have all given their backing to the museum, and will be donating many items and clothing.

Despite having broken up in 1982, ABBA still sell between 2 and 3 million albums a year worldwide.
